Graduate Medical Education Program Coordinator I – Neurology Department Summary

The Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern is a nationally recognized leader in the comprehensive management of neurological conditions. It includes more than 75 full‑time faculty across 12 subspecialty sections, 3 residency programs (Adult, Child Neurology, Neuro‑Psych), and 12 fellowships in Graduate Medical Education. The department features an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level‑4 National Evaluation and Assessment Center for Epilepsy.

Preferred Qualifications /Experience

As part of the Education Section, this position supports several neurology fellowship programs and a portion of the Adult Residency Program. The Coordinator works under minimal direction of the Manager of Education Programs and the Program Directors. The GME Program Coordinator I is considered a member of the fellowship leadership team and is responsible for the coordination and administration of the accredited/non‑accredited fellowship programs.

Ideal candidates have prior Graduate Medical Education experience in an academic medical center or healthcare setting.

Job Summary

With oversight from the Program Director, the Graduate Medical Education Program Coordinator I is a member of the leadership team and is responsible for the coordination and administration of the residency/fellowship training program, ensuring program success.

    Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (four years of administrative experience or 60 semester hours of college credit may substitute for an Associate’s degree)

    3 years related experience required (Bachelor’s degree may substitute for required experience). May be required to submit to a federal background investigation.

Job Duties
  • Lead administrative responsibilities for the GME residency/fellowship program.
  • Manage daily operations and activities of the GME residency/fellowship program(s).
  • Serve as liaison with learners, faculty, staff, and the ACGME.
  • Assist the Program Director and other GME coordinators in design, implementation, and management of administrative/academic operations.
  • Coordinate educational activities (e.g., didactic conference schedule, Grand Rounds) that support the program’s curriculum and meet ACGME requirements.
  • Provide guidance to residents/fellows on program policies and non‑clinical aspects.
  • Design, deliver, and report timely completion of resident/fellow, faculty, and program evaluations through the Residency Management System (RMS).
  • Coordinate accreditation activities including ACGME site visits, self‑studies, internal reviews, annual program reviews, etc.
  • Assist the Program Director in monitoring and reporting Resident Wellness outcomes for compliance.
  • Develop understanding of ACGME policies and procedures, including Common Program Requirements and Specialty‑Specific requirements.
  • Ensure GME and departmental policies and procedures are communicated and available to faculty, residents/fellows, and staff.
  • Coordinate resident/fellow recruitment and selection process.
  • Assist PD and faculty in planning program quality improvement projects.
  • Prepare Program Letters of Agreement with participating institutions and training sites, ensuring revisions as needed.
