Please Note: Only fully licensed therapist to practice independently within Texas will be considered: LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. LPC-A or LMSW will not be considered. This role manages a caseload of patients and does not carry responsibilities of day‑to‑day operations or management of the healthcare facility.

Summary

This position specializes in helping families adjust to acute and ongoing stressors, providing psychiatric, psychological and biopsychosocial support for pediatricians within CHPG and specialty clinics, as well as for the clinically integrated network and indigent clinics in our community. Services include clinical assessment and screening, treatment planning, short‑term counseling and strategic interventions with the child, family and caregivers, and may occur either in person or via tele‑medicine.

The BH CM will serve as the communication hub for all providers, ensuring pediatricians are kept apprised of behavioral health treatment recommendations and progress. Each BH CM is assigned a specific geographic area to identify trends in behavioral health issues and develop new treatment regimens, including group treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate in person or telephonic assessment of children identified as needing BH services; diagnose and develop treatment plans for full array of BH disorders and sub‑clinical symptoms; provide treatment interventions and short‑term counseling to children and families.
  • Perform behavioral health evaluations on children, adolescents and families for mental, emotional and behavioral disorders with special emphasis on risk of suicidality and safety to provide appropriate interventions grounded in evidence‑based practice.
  • Perform psychotherapeutic interventions, either in‑person or via telemedicine as clinically indicated by assessment and/or DSM diagnosis.
  • Provide ongoing in person and telephonic support to children and families to assure treatment goals are met.
  • Utilize the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral/mental health patients.
  • Develop and facilitate professional education on behavioral and mental health issues for the behavioral health team.
  • Effectively communicate with pediatric partners, keeping them up to date on treatment plans and progress, and providing training as needed on identification of behavioral health issues.
  • Develop and provide group programming for children and families based on trends and issues identified in the geographic area/neighborhood.
  • Develop strong partnership with pediatricians and function as their BH expert, providing consultation and support on all BH issues by applying specialized advanced clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including serious emotional disturbances in children.
  • Responsible for child maltreatment evaluation and referral, trauma and safety assessments.
  • Ability to meet physical and non‑physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the role.
