The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) maintains, tests, and calibrates advanced diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment systems to ensure safe and proper operation. The BMET II performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities according to Methodist Health System Policies & Procedures, as well as federal, state, and industry standards. The BMET II documents all maintenance activities and seeks assistance of Senior Biomedical Equipment Technicians for complex issues.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive scheduled maintenance and calibration procedures on assigned advanced medical equipment per manufacturer’s specifications, state and federal guidelines.
- Provide quality technical assistance to customers on advanced medical equipment.
- Perform safety testing on all medical equipment annually, and after each repair or scheduled maintenance check.
- Adhere to all current safety regulations and policies regarding the servicing of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment.
- Identify safety‑related issues and instruct fellow technicians and operators on corrective measures.
- Perform unscheduled repairs in a timely manner on all medical devices assigned to the responsibility area according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform customer follow‑up after each repair is completed.
- Provide safety and operator training on advanced medical equipment to hospital staff as needed.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing all paperwork associated with safety testing, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance within two working days of work completion.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree (military training or equivalent work experience) in a related discipline.
- Four years of experience working as a BMET I.
- Ability to use all electronic hand tools and test equipment.
- Background in biomedical equipment technology or related field to provide technical expertise to customers.
- Availability to work night shift or overtime if required.
