Cytotechnologist - Full Time

Path Advantage Laboratory specializes in Gynecologic Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. We are looking for a motivated and energetic Cytotechnologist to join our growing team! This is an exceptional opportunity at a laboratory that is known for its high quality work within a good environment. We are looking for a Cytotechnologist that is interested in becoming an integral part of a company with an outstanding reputation in DFW as well as having a friendly and cooperative spirit within the Laboratory.

The Cytotechnologist screens and results all gynecological specimens submitted for cytological evaluation. The technologist will work under the direct supervision of the Cytology General Manager, rendering cytological evaluations of specimens in accordance with departmental testing procedures and policies. This role is responsible for preparing diagnostic final reports.

Job Duties
  • Examine specimens using microscopes to evaluate specimen quality.
  • Microscopically examine and diagnose gynecologic slides for infectious, pre‑malignant, and malignant disease processes.
  • Provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports.
  • Document specimens by verifying patient’s and specimen’s information.
  • Maintain effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen preparation and laboratory safety.
Other Duties
  • Maintain specimen integrity and patient identification of all samples examined.
  • Enter and/or report results into the laboratory information system, as applicable.
  • Document workload as required by CLIA.
  • Pass proficiency testing in accordance with regulations.
  • Comply with all safety and HIPAA policies.
  • Participate successfully in required training and competency assessment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1–2 year accredited cytotechnologist program.
  • ASCP certified.
  • Thin Prep Imaging certification, preferred.
  • 2 Years of experience.

Other

Qualifications:

  • Ability to concentrate at the microscope.
  • Able to work alone and handle stressful circumstances.
  • Must be conscientious and thorough.
