This position is part of the acute care pharmacy department and functions as the pharmacy expert on the interdisciplinary Neurocritical Care team. The Neurocritical Care Specialist provides clinical support for critically ill patients with neurologic and neurosurgical conditions in the Neuro ICU and contributes to consultative services for complex pharmacotherapy management, including acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury, neuromonitoring-related therapies, sedation and analgesia, anticoagulation reversal, and neuroprotective strategies.

The specialist serves as a departmental leader in neurocritical care through executing initiatives, supporting quality improvement efforts, and educating pharmacy colleagues, providers, patients, and learners. Day-to-day activities include rounding with the multidisciplinary Neuro ICU team, optimizing medication therapy, participating in emergency response activities as appropriate, and precepting pharmacy residents and/or students. Non-direct patient care activities may include medication-use evaluations, cost savings initiatives, committee involvement, and participation in departmental projects, research, and practice advancement efforts related to neurocritical care and acute care pharmacy services.

Required

Education:

Both PGY1 and PGY2 from an ASHP-accredited residency program PGY1 with 5 years of progressive clinical practice experience Bachelor's Degree of Science degree or PharmD from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy

Experience:

5 years progressive clinical practice experience within specialty with PGY1 from an ASHP-accredited residency program or 8 years progressive clinical practice experience within specialty. Computer skills, data entry experience English (speaking, reading, writing). Good general health and stress coping ability. Moderate physical effort: prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting/carrying (up to 25 lbs.), reaching, bending, crouching, etc. Licenses and

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire and (TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN Eligible for licensure by Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required Upon Hire and (TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN - Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of date of hire within 30 Days (ACLS) ADV CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heat Association (AHA), or American Red Cross (ARC) required for only inpatient positions prior to or within 6 months of employment.
