Medical Scribe, Methodist Gastroenterology Specialists – Dallas

Scribe Position

The scribe will assist the provider with the completion of his/her dictations to improve the efficiency and quality of each patient visit and the overall clinic flow.

Job requirements:

• High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or certificate from college or technical school.
• 3 to 6 month related experience.
• Certificate from medical assistant program preferred.
• Ability to type 45 WPM, basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook/Office.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing excellent customer service to patients by listening and appropriately serving patients.
• Relaying relevant information to the appropriate internal staff.
• Assisting the provider in navigating the electronic health record system.
• Entering information into EHR as directed by the provider.
• Researching information as requested by the provider.
• Responding to various messages as requested by the provider.
• Assisting the physicians/physician assistant with documenting patient care in the electronic medical record and insuring that all services ordered are coded in the electronic medical record.
• Participating in office meetings and educational activities.
• Complying with HIPAA procedures.
• Maintaining work area in neat and orderly manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
