Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a CNIM Technologist
- Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) for a full-time opportunity with a growing healthcare organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The CNIM Technologist will provide real-time intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during surgical procedures to assist the surgical team in identifying and reducing the risk of neurological injury. This position works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, neurologists, and other operating room professionals while monitoring and interpreting neurophysiological data throughout surgical cases.

The ideal candidate holds a current CNIM certification and has a strong foundation in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and intraoperative neuromonitoring techniques. Experience with SSEP, TceMEP, EMG, EEG, and TOF modalities is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) during spine, brain, ENT, vascular, orthopedic, and other applicable surgical procedures.
  • Prepare patients for monitoring and properly place electrodes and related monitoring equipment prior to surgical procedures.
  • Establish and document baseline neurophysiological data before and during surgical cases.
  • Monitor and evaluate multiple neurophysiological modalities, including:
    • Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP)
    • Transcranial Motor Evoked Potentials (TceMEP)
    • Spontaneous Electromyography (spEMG)
    • Triggered Electromyography (tEMG)
    • Electroencephalography (EEG)
    • Train-of-Four (TOF)
  • Recognize significant neurophysiological signal changes and communicate findings promptly and effectively to the surgeon and operating room team.
  • Collaborate with supervising neurologists and physicians regarding the interpretation of monitoring data and significant intraoperative events.
  • Troubleshoot electrode, equipment, signal, and other technical issues in real time during surgical procedures.
  • Accurately document baseline data, monitoring activity, significant events, alerts, interventions, communications, and case outcomes.
  • Follow established clinical protocols, patient safety standards, infection-control procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Inspect, maintain, and prepare IONM equipment to ensure systems are operational and ready for each case.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with surgeons, physicians, hospital personnel, and internal clinical teams.
  • Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, competency development, and other clinical improvement initiatives.
  • Travel between assigned hospitals and surgical facilities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and accommodate early case starts, schedule changes, and procedures extending beyond standard business hours.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Certified Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, biology, neuroscience, neurodiagnostics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous intraoperative neuromonitoring experience preferred; CNIM-certified candidates with varying levels of experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and intraoperative neuromonitoring principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with SSEP, TceMEP, EMG, EEG, and TOF monitoring modalities.
  • Ability to identify and appropriately respond to significant changes in neurophysiological signals.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, neurologists, and operating room personnel.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high-pressure surgical environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate clinical documentation.
  • Ability to travel between healthcare facilities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and accommodate variable surgical schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience monitoring complex spine procedures.
  • Experience with Cadwell Cascade Surgical Studio or similar IONM technology.
  • Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties and procedure types.
  • Previous experience providing IONM services across multiple hospitals or surgical facilities.
Schedule & Work Environment

This position operates primarily within hospital operating rooms and surgical facilities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

The schedule is driven by surgical case volume and may include:

  • Early morning case starts
  • Cases extending beyond normal business hours
