Work under moderate supervision to initiate and manage research projects and programs within a department.
This position will be overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of research projects for Dr. Martin's Sickle Cell program, ensuring alignment with defined scientific objectives and allocated effort, working directly with study Principal Investigators (Pl).
Project LeadershipLead and manage complex research projects and study timelines.
Contracts & Agreements ManagementOversee research contracts, subawards, and sponsor agreements.
Study Start-Up & Regulatory OversightManage IRB submissions, regulatory compliance, and multisite studies.
Project Coordination & Process DevelopmentDevelop workflows, improve processes, and coordinate stakeholders.
Data Management & Chart AbstractionMaintain databases, ensure data quality, and support reporting and analysis.
Study Visit Coordination & ConductCoordinate research visits and ensure protocol compliance.
Participant Tracking & RetentionSupport participant recruitment, enrollment, and long‑term follow‑up.
CommunicationCollaborate with investigators, sponsors, regulatory offices, and external partners.
Grantsmanship & Scholarly ProductsSupport grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.

- Education Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Experience 5 years experience in clinical research, including at least three years‿ experience in project management, which may include management of specific clinical trials or clinical trials‑related programs.
- Education Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience Prior experience in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program is highly desirable, and participation in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program may count as additional experience.
- For new research projects or programs, define project/program scope with the PI, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the Clinical Research Manager, Clinical Department Administrator, and Vice Chair/Chair; assist PI to develop project plans, timelines, and associated communications documents; clearly and timely communicate project expectations to team members and management.
- Estimate research resources and personnel needed to achieve project/program goals, and work with CRM to help allocate from within the department or externally.
