MRI Technologist
The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. This is done for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. Performs high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures. Utilizes effective communication techniques when interacting with patients to ensure correct exam performance and establish rapport.
Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed. Assesses patient's ability to tolerate the exam. Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient and adjusting immobilization devices. Moves equipment into specified positions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements and infection-control policies.
Uses proper sterile techniques when performing multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene. Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory. Screens individuals according to approved policies and procedures to ensure safety. Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart and patient history.
Maintains medical imaging records according to department policies and standards for timely interpretation. Able to explain procedures and put patients at ease effectively. Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner. Performs tasks independently without routine oversight. Maintains a calm and helpful attitude, even under stress, and takes appropriate steps to resolve issues. Administers first aid and uses emergency cart as needed.
Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skills appropriate for various age groups. Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members. Available for on-call duties if required.
