Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. This Full Time position supports the Dallas Medical City location in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) department. Typical hours are Mon–Fri 8:30am–5:00pm. The role will be Level 1, 2, or Sr based on experience.
Texas Oncology is a leading oncology practice in Texas, providing high‑quality, evidence‑based cancer care. The candidate will support BMT workups and ICD‑10 data entry for our in‑house lab, ensuring precision and efficient patient care.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit – vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
- May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.
Level 1
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- 0‑3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within three months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Other state regulations may require specific certifications.
Level 2 (in addition to Level
1)
- Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and
2)
- Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
