Radiology - Cardiovascular Invasive Tech

Experience: 2 years minimum experience

License: TX MRT

Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ACLS (AHA Only), RCIS or ARRT (RT)

Must-Have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Clinical experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology

Description:

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment.

This role assists Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment.

Prepares the room and equipment, transports and monitors patients.

May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.

Assists Physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, and permanent pacemaker implantations.

Related duties include preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures.

Printing films and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases are also responsibilities.

Circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms is expected.

Monitors patients' ECG and vital signs while in the Catheterization Lab.

Notifies Physicians of variances and provides emergency procedures as needed.

Performs pre-and post-procedure care.

Monitors and orients patients for catheterization procedures.

Answers related questions to make patients comfortable.

Transports patients to and from procedural areas.

Communicates relevant medical information to Physicians and other staff through required documentation.

Records and enters data into the computer, calculating catheterization data and cardiac outputs.

Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients and staff.

Maintains inventory of procedure room supplies and ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked.

Ensures that equipment is safe to use.

Key success factors include the ability to self-lead problem-solving skills and to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques are essential.

The ability to work productively as a member of a team or workgroup is fundamental to the role.
