SUMMARY:
The Radiology Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with provider orders, established imaging protocols, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. This position requires the safe and effective operation of radiographic equipment, proper preparation and positioning of patients, and evaluation of images to ensure appropriate positioning, exposure, and diagnostic quality.
The Radiology Technologist is expected to maintain all required licenses, certifications, and competencies applicable to the position. As part of the organization’s continued expansion of ancillary imaging services, the successful candidate must be willing and able to pursue and obtain Mammography Certification within a timeframe established by the organization, subject to applicable eligibility and regulatory requirements.
Problem-solving abilities are applied when troubleshooting equipment issues or adapting techniques to accommodate patient needs. Continuous learning and adaptability enable the technologist to stay current with evolving imaging technologies and regulatory requirements, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform diagnostic X-rays in accordance with provider orders and established imaging protocols.
- Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging to promote comfort, safety, and image accuracy.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively using appropriate imaging techniques.
- Follow radiation-safety procedures, including ALARA principles and required protective measures.
- Maintain accurate imaging documentation, patient records, examination details, and required logs.
- Review images for positioning, exposure, artifacts, and diagnostic quality before submission.
- Follow applicable state and federal requirements governing radiation-producing equipment.
- Verify patient identity, imaging orders, and relevant clinical information before examinations.
- Perform required equipment quality-control checks and report malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and safe imaging environment and follow infection-prevention procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and clinical staff to support timely patient care.
- Maintain required licenses, registrations, certifications, and continuing education.
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility as appropriate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Ancillary Department QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2+ years of mammography experience preferred
- Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills
