Role:
Provides specialized lactation consulting services within the Women & Family Education department to support breastfeeding education and support for patients and families.
Responsibilities:Conducts one-on-one breastfeeding evaluations, offers education on breastfeeding and related topics, assists with breastfeeding challenges, teaches childbirth and postpartum classes, and collaborates with hospital staff to resolve breastfeeding issues. Maintains accurate documentation, develops educational materials, and stays current with industry advancements. Serves as a clinical resource and ensures compliance with regulations. Participates in committees and special projects to improve patient care and satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills:Must hold a current RN license, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, and obtain certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) within 18 months. Requires at least one year of maternal/infant health experience, inpatient hospital experience, and preferably lactation consulting expertise. Demonstrates competency in breastfeeding physiology, effective communication, patient-centered care, and clinical problem-solving. Maintains current continuing education in lactation and adheres to relevant regulations and standards.
