The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas' Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center.
When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds - 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW's first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery.
The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required- Education
Graduate of an Institution certified by the Council of Social Work Education with a Master's degree in Social Work
- Licenses and Certifications
(LMSW) LIC MASTER SOCIAL WORKER by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners. Temporary license is acceptable during first 90 days of employment and
(CPI) CRISIS PREVENTION INSTITUT CER - training must be completed within 30 days of hire date
- Experience
2 years related experience
- Acts as a liaison by coordinating information with the County Mental Health office, area Sheriff, Police Departments, area State Mental Hospitals, Criminal Courts, Civil Courts, Probate Courts, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Security Department, Attorneys, and out-of-state Mental Health Hospitals.
- Monitors the legal status of all patients.
- Communicates with local and out-of-state Mental Health Hospitals to determine disposition of patients with legally designated time frame.
- Maintains accurate records of legal holds and dispositions.
- Schedules appointment times with Mental Health Court for families to file legal documents.
- Notarizes all legal documents for the Department.
- Ensures all mental health legal documents are accurate, complete and faxed to the Mental Health Court.
- Maintains accurate patient and unit statistics.
- Provides Texas Mental Health Code in-services for staff and public.
- Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and proactively determines patient needs for discharge transitions including transportation, DME, LTAC, SNF, home health agencies and hospice.
