HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's largest health systems, is currently seeking a full-time Microbiology Technologist to join its laboratory services team in Dallas, TX. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningful diagnostic work within a hospital network that has committed up to $300 million over three years to support its workforce.

Role Overview :
Microbiology Technologist at HCA Healthcare

In this position, the technologist will perform specimen processing alongside moderate and high-complexity testing across microbiology, serology, and infectious disease panels. Working under the guidance of a laboratory supervisor, manager, or director, the role demands strict adherence to departmental policies and accrediting agency requirements. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Conducting specimen processing and infectious disease testing independently and in a timely manner.
  • Performing and documenting preventive maintenance on specialized equipment per department schedule.
  • Applying laboratory medicine concepts and independent judgment to verify result accuracy and proper equipment performance.
  • Upholding rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Acting as a resource for peers and customers while modeling effective teamwork.
  • Assisting in the orientation, training, and competency documentation of department personnel as requested.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry is required; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Certification: National certification as a Microbiology Technologist is mandatory.
  • Licensure: A valid state license is required where applicable (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).
  • Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of microbiology methods, serology, infectious disease processes, laboratory accreditation standards, regulatory compliance requirements, and general billing guidelines.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, effective teamwork, proactive decision-making, and the ability to prioritize and organize workflow efficiently.
