Job Summary
They are the first and last person the guest interacts with. He/She always maintains a warm, welcoming, and professional demeanor at his/her post. The host is under the direction and training of the Sandy Pickle management team and will always communicate openly with the team on any issues or opportunities throughout their shift.
- Always greet guests with a smile and warm welcome.
- Keep the host stand well organized and free of clutter. Set up stand from the guest’s perspective.
- Be confident and informative when answering the phone. Smile when talking on the phone.
- Be knowledgeable about all policies and procedures. Be sure to communicate them to each party.
- Assist servers and bartenders in fulfilling any guest needs in your downtime.
- Be knowledgeable about the restaurant’s floor plan. Know table numbers, as well as seat numbers.
- Strive to give accurate quote times when on a wait to manage guest expectations.
- Be knowledgeable about the entire Village community and be able to communicate all amenities and outlets available to our residents and guests.
- Constant communication between Host and MOD about quote time and guest issues is vital to the success of each shift.
- Be knowledgeable about all menus, and aware of when our food menus change over throughout the day.
- Keep all entrance ways clean and free of clutter. Ensure glass doors and entryway windows are free of fingerprints and smudges throughout the shift.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by leader.
- High School Diploma or related preferred.
- Minimum 1+ years experience in a full‑service restaurant preferred.
- Maître d’ or concierge experience a plus.
- Knowledge of seating and reservation systems.
- Friendly, courteous, and well‑spoken.
- Excellent communication skills—especially being able to refocus any negative situation.
- Passion for product, people, and teamwork.
- Organized, creative, and detail oriented with the ability to be flexible.
- Ability to effectively engage in individual conversations as well as with groups.
- Operate with passion, integrity, and respect for both internal team members and external guests.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
