Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join our team in Dallas, TX.

The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a business partner to the Corporate Services division. A successful candidate will demonstrate broad knowledge and skills in all HR disciplines to ensure successful recruitment, onboarding, development and retention of employees. This individual will demonstrate strong knowledge of all legal requirements and procedures. The position reports to the VP of Human Resources.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with divisional recruiter to assist with job posting opportunities after consulting hiring managers and conducting behavioral interviews etc.
  • Manages all aspects of company’s hiring due diligence practices such as mandatory pre-employment substance abuse testing and background and credit checking as required.
  • Ensures successful onboarding of new employees. Ensures all necessary new hire paperwork is completed by payroll deadlines and follows up with supervisors to ensure engagement by the new employee.
  • Partners with client group in effectively handling all employee relations issues.
  • Interprets HR policies and employment law for employees and managers, and coaches them to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Manage and lead the internship program and initiatives.
  • Designs, implements, and facilitates assigned curriculums, training topics (technical and behavioral) and other L&D initiatives. Ability to lead some training programs.
  • Conducts basic analyses of HR data; compiles data sets from HRIS and stand alone HR spreadsheets. Analyzes trends and reports on various HR metrics (retention, promotions, turnover, trends, training and development and overall employee engagement), etc.
  • Assists in the analysis of compensation practices and the performance management processes; makes recommendations for effective process improvements.
  • Manages the off-boarding process: conducts exit interviews, analyzes and identifies trends, compiles monthly results for executive review, etc.
  • Reviews, executes and manages third party vendor contracts; ensures services rendered align.
  • Assists with employee engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Audits various documents and processes.
  • Manage and administer various HR systems: ATS, LMS, E-Verify, etc.
  • Supports various national HR programs and initiatives, as assigned.

  • Builds effective relationships with project teams, functional departments, customers, vendors, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.
  • Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.

Working Conditions

The majority of work is completed in an office setting with minimum risks. Some travel is required to division offices or job sites.

Education, Experience and Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field and 5-7 years of progressive HR Generalist/Business Partner experience required, or 7-10 years of progressive, relevant Human Resources experience.
  • Strong experience in performance management, recruiting, employment law, employee relations, staffing and workforce planning.
  • SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification required.
  • Able to build rapport and successfully leverage business relationships to deliver high quality results.
