Job Summary

The HR Services Team includes responsibility for improvement related to systems, processes, procedures, and data that can be optimized to improve services provided in the HR Services Center and take a proactive approach versus reactive. The HR Specialist will be responsible for the resolution of cases by phone, e-mail or chat on a daily basis. This role will serve as back-up in person to the HR Services Specialist to provide in-person customer service.

This role will be the main point of contact for initial or Tier 1 level questions and will analyze the question and determine if escalation is necessary. This role will work in a cross-functional manner to problem solve and address inquiries across all HR systems, processes, and procedures.

This position will service the Texas Behavioral Health Center. Schedule falls under a mostly remote hybrid work schedule which is currently one day every other week in office and as needed.

Previous Human Resources experience is strongly preferred. Tier one level service, onboarding and data management experience is preferred.

Experience and Education

Experience

  • Education:

    Bachelor s Degree in business administration or related field
  • Experience:

    1 year of previous HR, recruiting, customer service or related experience. Relevant years of experience can be considered in lieu of education (minimum of 4 years of related experience with no degree).

Preferred

  • Experience in Talent Acquisition recruiting, talent onboarding, HR Generalist or HR Business Partner roles highly preferred
  • Experience working with multiple ATS, CRM and HRM systems — specifically Taleo and People Soft products
  • Experience in high-touch customer service with a focus on problem solving
Job Duties
  • Provides friendly, reliable, and timely HR services. The HR Specialist is positioned to provide outstanding service to internal customers and employees for inquiries ranging from general questions to complex solutions on HR matters such as compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, and employment transactions.
  • Provides professional advisory and administrative service to UT Southwestern campus, new and existing employees, external customers encompassing a broad range of HR inquiries and processes; supports resolving Tier 1 level HR inquiries, handling customer questions, or guiding non-HR inquiries to the appropriate department.
  • Provides outstanding service to internal and external customers with general to complex solutions on HR inquiries such as compensation, benefits, leave administration, recruitment, payroll, etc.
  • Participates as part of a team of subject matter experts on general HR knowledge to effectively answer questions and help new hires or external customers navigate UTSW.
  • Works with staff within HR Services, Human Resources and across departments to create and manage effective relationships.
  • Liaises with teams within HR Services and the HR Center of Excellence (HR COE) for escalation and resolution of queries and cases.
  • Proactively supports and delivers excellent, timely customer service to customers, HR colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Identifies customer needs, providing effective solutions using the HR Knowledge Base to deliver consistent answers and guidance.
  • Provides a high-touch experience for new and existing employees, emphasizing continuous process efficiency and results.
  • Performs onboarding efforts from offer acceptance through pre-onboarding to orientation.
