Overview

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is seeking a strategic, relational, and spiritually mature executive to serve as its next Vice President for Human Resources (VP of HR). This key leader will guide the next phase of transformation for ADF’s HR function, aligning people strategy with mission impact, strengthening culture, and equipping a gifted global team to do their best work. As ADF grows in size, complexity, and reach, the role of HR is expanding—from primarily administrative support to a proactive, strategic partnership with ministry leaders.

The next VP of HR will play a catalytic role in this transformation, building a responsive and integrated HR structure that enables ADF to anticipate and meet future needs with agility, intentionality, and Kingdom purpose.

Key Responsibilities Build and Lead a Responsive, Mission-Aligned HR Function:
  • Architect and implement an integrated HR structure that supports organizational agility, collaboration, and growth.
  • Strengthen and lead a high-performing HR team across talent acquisition, career development, HR operations, leadership training, compliance, compensation, and benefits.
  • Establish forward-thinking, data-informed strategies that anticipate future needs while reflecting ADF’s deeply rooted Christian values.
Shape and Shepherd a Distinctive Culture
  • Champion a healthy, Christ-centered culture that embodies ADF’s theological commitments and fosters spiritual, professional, and relational flourishing.
  • Develop and maintain a compelling employee value proposition that reflects ADF’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
  • Partner with senior leaders to embed shared values throughout every stage of the employee lifecycle—from recruitment to retirement.
Talent Strategy and Leadership Development
  • Design and implement a holistic talent strategy encompassing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Develop leadership pipelines and career pathing frameworks that promote internal mobility and long-term development.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to executives and team leads in evaluating structure, capability needs, and succession risks.
Enhance Organizational Capability and Compliance
  • Lead efforts to optimize compensation and benefits strategies that reflect ADF’s values, market realities, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure HR policies and the Team Member Handbook reflect ADF’s culture and comply with current employment law across all jurisdictions.
  • Build systems and processes that support both operational excellence and employee engagement.
Equip, Coach, and Develop Others
  • Model servant leadership and a growth mindset by coaching, mentoring, and equipping HR team members and leaders across the organization.
  • Foster trust and collaboration across departments and functions, ensuring that HR is seen as a strategic ministry partner.
  • Provide transparent and effective communication around people-related strategies, decisions, and change.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong foundation in strategic leadership and team development.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and transforming HR functions in growing, complex, or values-driven organizations.
  • Track record of developing and implementing integrated HR strategies that span the full employee lifecycle.
  • Deep alignment with ADF’s theological convictions, mission, and Statement of Faith.
  • Experience advising senior leaders and managing competing organizational priorities with wisdom and grace.
