Housing Forward is the backbone organization leading one of the nation's most innovative and successful homeless response systems. Serving Dallas and Collin Counties, we bring together more than 150 public, private, and nonprofit partners through the All Neighbors Coalition to build a coordinated, data-driven system to resolve homelessness. Since 2021, our community has achieved five consecutive years of reductions in homelessness while Housing Forward transformed into a high-performing lead agency with more than 45 employees driving system strategy, performance management, and community wide collaboration.

POSITIONSUMMARY
The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting and managing day-to-day human resources operations for Housing Forward. This role administers core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, performance management support, compliance, records management, and HR program coordination. The HR Generalist helps foster a positive, compliant, and effective work environment while ensuring HR practices align with organizational goals, values, and applicable employment laws and regulations.
This position serves as a key resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. The HR Generalist is expected to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
- Administer and manage the recruitment process, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and supporting candidate selection
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and identify qualified candidates
- Help develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract high-quality and mission-aligned talent
- Coordinate candidate communications and ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process
- Assist in new hire orientation and facilitate onboarding processes for new employees
- Provide support for employee transitions including hires, internal changes, and separations
- Respond to employee relations matters and provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns
- Support management in addressing performance, conduct, and workplace issues in a timely and consistent manner
- Promote a positive work environment that reflects Housing Forward’s values and culture
- Help maintain fair, respectful, and legally compliant employee practices
- Support training sessions and employee development activities on HR-related topics, such as workplace expectations, diversity, harassment prevention, and performance management
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and organizational effectiveness
- Assist in the development, implementation, communication, and ongoing maintenance of HR policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations
- Maintain employment records in accordance with legal, organizational, and audit requirements
- Support internal HR audits, compliance reviews, and documentation efforts
- Help identify and address potential HR-related risks through consistent process administration and policy application
- Support administration of employee benefits programs, including employee communications, enrollment assistance, and general issue resolution
- Maintain accurate HR files, records, and system data
- Prepare reports, track HR metrics, and support HR operational processes as needed
- Participate in HR projects and process improvement efforts to strengthen departmental effectiveness and service delivery
- Contribute to a workplace culture grounded in dignity, respect, service, accountability, and collaboration
- Support HR initiatives aligned with Housing Forward’s mission, strategic priorities, and organizational growth
- Partner across departments to ensure HR practices support effective operations and employee success
- Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned
