Position: Application Architect - Automation & Microservices (Telecom Domain)

Overview

CTG is seeking to fill an Application Architect – Automation & Microservices (Telecom Domain) position for our client.

Location: Dallas, TX

Duration: 12 months

Duties
  • Design and implement end-to-end application architecture with a strong focus on application automation and microservices within a telecom environment.

  • Translate functional and non-functional business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing solution architectures.

  • Provide technical leadership across the full lifecycle, including architecture definition, design reviews, development guidance, and deployment support.

  • Architect and integrate automation solutions that streamline business processes and optimize service delivery across enterprise systems.

  • Lead technology evaluation, selection, and proof-of-concept activities for automation, AI/GenAI, and microservices platforms.

  • Define and enforce architecture standards, best practices, and governance related to automation, APIs, and microservices.

  • Ensure performance optimization, resiliency, security, and compliance requirements are met across all solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and operations teams to align architecture with business objectives.

  • Oversee integration of automation assets (digital workers, agent assistants, IT/AI operations) into existing IT ecosystems.

Skills
  • Expert-level knowledge of application automation tools and platforms such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, workflows, and orchestration technologies.

  • Strong experience with AI/GenAI capabilities and integration, including APIs for Watsonx and/or other hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Proven expertise in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and system integration patterns.

  • Deep understanding of telecom domain processes and large-scale, distributed enterprise environments.

  • Experience with automation assets including Digital Workers, Agent Assistants, and IT/AI Operations solutions.

  • Familiarity with IBM Delivery Central Platform (IDCP) and IBM Consulting Advantage platform, including Method

    X, reusable assets, and AI assistants.

  • Strong knowledge of security architecture, compliance standards, and performance optimization techniques.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience
  • 8+ years of overall application architecture or senior technical leadership experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing automation-centric and microservices-based solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience leading architecture initiatives in complex, enterprise-scale environments, preferably within the telecom industry.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Relevant architecture, cloud, or automation certifications are a plus.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
