Job Summary

The Principal Cybersecurity Architect role is a leadership position preferably with transportation and aviation industry experience who can blend deep technical expertise in security architecture with strategic leadership in policy development and enterprise-wide influence. The successful candidate will be experienced with modern security capabilities and technologies, AI adoption strategies, an ability to lead projects, implement compliance requirements with best practices through designs and patterns, define and drive multi-year security roadmaps aligned to business objectives, and will be a hands-on strategic leader for the organization.

Tracking and adjusting to evolving threats and techniques will also be critical in this role. The main work includes developing and enforcing security architecture policies, providing oversight across diverse projects, and ensuring security controls are integrated into technology solutions that align with compliance and risk tolerance. The ideal candidate acts as a bridge between technical cybersecurity teams and IT business focused leadership, influencing IT strategy through a security lens while mentoring others, strengthening the organization’s overall security posture.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as principal security advisor, reviewing and influencing solution designs and implementation plans to meet enterprise policies, compliance, and risk tolerance.
  • Design, maintain, and evolve reusable security architectural patterns that enable secure-by-design practices across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define, refine, and standardize cybersecurity technologies, policies, standards, and control frameworks, ensuring alignment to NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
  • Act as a key contributor between cybersecurity teams, IT, and business stakeholders, translating strategic security principles into actionable architectural guidance.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate secure implementation of identity, access, monitoring, detection, and response systems, software, and capabilities.
  • Support planning and strategy for system hardening, service and API security, devops/CI/CD/code security, and secure configuration of cloud resources and architectures.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews of critical projects to ensure early and continuous integration of security requirements.
  • Lead assessments of enterprise-wide architecture in partnership with Risk Management, identifying opportunities for improving resilience, reducing attack surface, and strengthening the overall security posture.
  • Monitor and review emerging cybersecurity threats, attack techniques, and regulatory developments to continuously improve policies, patterns, and architectural standards.
