About the RoleA global technology organization is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to join its Information Technology leadership team within a Digital Experience Solutions group supporting Sales and Marketing platforms.
This role has a strong and explicit focus on Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). The Principal Enterprise Architect will define enterprise architecture strategy for customer-facing digital platforms, ensuring identity, authentication, authorization, privacy, and security are foundational to every solution.
You will serve as a hands-on architecture leader, delivering secure, modular, and scalable architecture patterns that enable personalized, trusted customer experiences s role is a key contributor to a multi-year cloud and digital transformation and works closely with engineering, platform, security, analytics, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities- Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy for digital experience platforms, with Customer Identity (CIAM) as a core architectural pillar
- Lead the design of secure, scalable solutions that embed identity, authentication, authorization, and consent management by design
- Provide architectural leadership for CIAM platforms and integrations across customer-facing applications and channels
- Drive enterprise initiatives including cloud migration, platform modernization, and vendor integration
- Act as a technical authority and mentor to architects and senior engineers, ensuring consistent architecture standards
- Partner closely with security, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure identity solutions meet regulatory and data protection requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business leaders to enable personalized, data-driven customer experiences
- Proactively identify and resolve architectural risks related to identity, security, and scalability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, engineering leadership, and large-scale transformation initiatives
- Deep, hands-on experience architecting Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions at enterprise scale (required)
- Strong knowledge of identity standards and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML
- Experience integrating CIAM platforms with CMS, analytics, and customer data platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with modern web and backend technologies:
- Spring, Angular, React, Node.js
- Microservices and Kubernetes
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Experience with leading CIAM platforms (e.g., Auth0, Okta Customer Identity, Forge Rock, Ping Identity, Azure AD B2C or equivalent)
- Certifications in public cloud platforms and/or enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
- Experience designing privacy-by-design and consent management architectures (GDPR, regional data protection requirements)
- Experience establishing best practices for security, observability, performance, accessibility, and SEO at enterprise scale
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies (including blue/green deployments)
- Experience designing or integrating Generative AI solutions that rely on secure customer identity and contextual access control
- Demonstrated success delivering secure, scalable, and reliable digital platforms
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and gain consensus across technical and non-technical audiences
