Introduction:
We are seeking a skilled Kafka Administrator to join our team. This role is crucial for managing and optimizing Apache Kafka clusters to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Kafka administration and a strong background in Linux system administration.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Apache Kafka and Confluent Kafka.
Strong Linux system administration skills.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and JMX.
Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or Java.
Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes/Open Shift.
Prior work experience in a similar role or in the client's industry.
Preferred
Skills & Qualifications
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
Knowledge of security protocols including SSL/TLS, SASL, and ACLs.
Experience with designing data pipelines and optimizing producer/consumer configurations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Install, configure, and upgrade Kafka brokers, Zookeeper/KRaft, Connect, and Schema Registry.
Monitor cluster health, broker performance, consumer lag, and producer latency.
Manage topic configuration, partitioning strategies, replication factors, and data retention policies.
Implement security measures to secure data.
Provide 3rd-level support to resolve broker, producer, or consumer issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
Design and manage replication strategies across regions for disaster recovery.
Develop scripts to automate routine tasks.
Collaborate with developers to design data pipelines and onboard new applications.
