Senior Git Lab Platform Administrator
Contract Length: 12-18 months+
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
Our client has made significant strides modernizing their software delivery ecosystem and is now focused on maturing and scaling what they've built. They're seeking a Senior Git Lab Platform Administrator with deep expertise in Git Lab Self-Managed, infrastructure automation, and Dev Ops best practices to help take their platform to the next level.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys optimizing complex systems, and takes pride in building scalable, secure, and reliable pipelines. Our client values initiative, accountability, and continuous improvement. You'll join a collaborative, fast-moving team focused on high-impact delivery and long-term maintainability.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- BS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience administering complex enterprise applications and tools
- Software Configuration Management expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Git Lab, Artifactory, Xray, and Sonar Qube
- Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Open Shift)
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud)
- Skilled in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Experience with CI/CD concepts, SDLC methodologies, and Dev Ops culture
- Git Lab Certified Administrator
- Recent hands-on experience with Git Lab Self-Managed
- Prior experience in build management, configuration management, or quality testing
- Background in Agile, CI/CD, and SCM practices
- Administer and scale Git Lab Self-Managed (runners, groups, projects, permissions, backup/restore)
- Harden Git Lab for enterprise use including SAML/SSO, LDAP, and RBAC configuration
- Build, optimize, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab CI/CD and YAML best practices
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and pipeline operations with Terraform and Ansible
- Implement and champion Git Ops practices across development teams
- Support and guide application teams in adopting Git Lab workflows and best practices
- Develop and maintain runbooks, wiki pages, and reusable pipeline templates
- Integrate observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) for platform and pipeline health
- Enforce code quality, compliance, and security guardrails across pipelines
- Provide operational support and participate in 24/7 on-call rotations
