Position Overview
As Software Engineering Director at PNC, you oversee engineering capabilities within PNC’s Technology organization. You strategically lead and scale enterprise-wide engineering capabilities with a primary focus on security. You drive design, development, and delivery of secure platforms, applications, and tools that protect our digital and physical assets, while navigating complex challenges and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Additional Responsibilities- Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for security engineering platforms and services.
- Lead large-scale, complex application development initiatives aligned with business and cybersecurity goals.
- Drive innovation across security technologies, including automation, cloud security, and platform modernization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, IT partners, and security stakeholders.
- Influence security strategy, risk posture, and investment prioritization.
- Enterprise leadership in highly complex, matrixed organizations.
- Strong expertise in security engineering domains, cloud platforms, and modern architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and deliver enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, with experience in Kanban and SAFE.
- Experience managing onshore and offshore resources.
- Strategic thinking and alignment of engineering capabilities to business and security strategies.
- Excellent cross-functional partnership and collaboration.
- Operational excellence with focus on quality, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management.
- Innovation mindset and passion for emerging technologies.
- Risk and security acumen with knowledge of threat landscapes and defense strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- 8+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in leadership or management roles.
- Proven leadership experience with a large scope of responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of application development, business management, customer solutions, design, group problem solving, process improvements, release management, software solutions, and user experience (UX) design.
- Experience with application development (Client/Server, Object-Oriented), localization, maintenance, testing, budgeting, and software process improvement.
- Fundamental knowledge of IT industry trends, system testing, and SPI.
- Relevant certifications and licenses are a plus, though not required.
Competitive base salary range of $143,000 - $297,000, incentive eligibility, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability protection, 401(k) with company match, pension and stock purchase plans, dependent care reimbursement, paid time off, and wellness programs.
