Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Engineer to support virtualization infrastructure for our client in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VMware technologies, ESXi administration, vCenter management, automation, and enterprise-level virtualization deployment. You will work closely with infrastructure, network, and security teams to ensure high availability, performance, and optimization of virtualized environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, configure, and optimize VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and distributed resource clusters.
Perform installation, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management for VMware infrastructure components.
Troubleshoot host, VM, storage, and networking issues in complex enterprise setups.
Monitor system performance and capacity planning for large-scale virtualization environment.
Implement and maintain vSphere High Availability (HA), DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, and resource pools.
Support virtual networking including vDS, VLANs, NSX (preferred).
Work with SAN/NAS teams for storage provisioning, connectivity, and performance optimization.
Develop automation scripts using PowerCLI, Power Shell, or Python.
Document configurations, standard operating procedures, and architecture diagrams.
Ensure compliance with Telecommunication security and operational policies.
Provide on-call support for critical issues and participate in change management processes.
Required
Skills & Experience:
58+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi in enterprise environments.
Expertise in vCenter, vSphere clusters, HA/DRS, and virtual networking.
Strong understanding of storage technologies: SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS.
Experience with PowerCLI/Power Shell automation.
Familiarity with NSX-V or NSX-T is a strong plus.
Knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments.
Experience working in large corporate environments (Telecom experience preferred).
Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.
Experience with Telecommunication enterprise environment or large-scale telecom/ISP clients.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for hybrid cloud integration.
Exposure to ITIL processes and ticketing tools (Service Now preferred).
