Rapid Response Team (RRT) Data Center Technician – Networking & Deployment Focus
Role OverviewThe Rapid Response Team (RRT) Data Center Technician supports large-scale, high-velocity deployments in enterprise and hyperscale data center environments. This role is heavily focused on Layer 1 networking, physical deployment, rack & stack execution, cabling quality control, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities Data Center Deployment & Operations- Perform rack and stack activities following industry-standard procedures, including RU measurement and rack layout planning.
- Installation of rack rails and guides.
- Sequential installation of networking and compute equipment.
- Execute large-scale physical deployments, including unboxing, palletizing, staging, and moving hardware.
- Loading and placing equipment into racks.
- Support physical networking tasks related to deployment and troubleshooting.
- Perform cabling quality control, including identifying and correcting poor cable routing, labeling, or dressing.
- Understand differences between fiber and copper cabling and recognize proper use of single-mode vs. multi-mode fiber.
- Partner with third‑party vendors responsible for cabling while maintaining established quality standards.
- Participate in the burn down process following deployments.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Validate links and physical network integrity.
- Perform ongoing break/fix and maintenance once equipment is in production, within defined scope.
- Work alongside deployment, networking, and operations teams to support project objectives.
- Perform the same tasks as internal team members while maintaining consistent quality and pace.
- Follow strict procedures and standards and adjust quickly based on feedback.
Physical Requirements
- Operate in data centers and warehouse environments, depending on project needs.
- Walk 5–6 miles per shift in large facilities.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout long shifts.
- Hands‑on experience in large-scale data center environments.
- Demonstrated experience with rack & stack deployments, physical networking devices and cabling, fiber optics fundamentals (single-mode vs. multi-mode), and Layer 1 networking concepts.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot physical connectivity issues.
- Experience working in physically demanding roles within data centers.
- Ability to adapt to multiple work environments (data centers, warehouses).
- Hands‑on experience with networking devices, cabling, and rack & stack processes.
- Ability to identify and resolve physical connectivity issues.
- Comfort with fiber optics fundamentals and cabling standards.
- Proven ability to perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
- Experience walking large facilities, lifting equipment, and executing high-volume deployments.
- Comfortable performing both skilled and routine tasks as required.
- Willingness to follow strict procedures and accept feedback.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to support operational needs wherever required.
- Experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center deployments.
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and data center best practices.
- Experience working in fast‑paced deployment or operations environments.
This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 – $50.00 per hour.
