Overview
Do you have proven analytical capabilities to identify business opportunities, develop predictive models, and build optimization algorithms that drive operational efficiency for a large-scale support organization? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Scientist on its Support Capacity Planning team to model contact and volume forecasting, uncover insights, and identify improvement opportunities through statistics, machine learning, and combinatorial optimization. You will partner with data engineering, tooling, operations, training, workforce management, and finance teams to advance the long‑term strategic direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and execute data management and strategy frameworks, including data collection, storage, integration, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify data‑related challenges, develop data‑driven solutions, and align data strategy with overall business objectives.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand organizational data needs, evaluate existing infrastructure, identify gaps, and propose innovative solutions.
- Leverage large‑scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark or Hadoop) to handle big data and enable efficient model training and evaluation.
- Continuously evaluate and improve machine learning models by incorporating stakeholder feedback, monitoring performance in real‑world scenarios, and exploring new algorithms to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and implement machine learning models that drive business value: analyze historical data to forecast outcomes, analyze customer and market trends to support go‑to‑market strategies, analyze financial data for cost‑saving and pricing optimization, and analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and process improvement opportunities.
- 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, MATLAB).
- 4+ years of data scientist experience.
- Experience with statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.
- 2+ years of experience with data visualization using tools such as AWS Quick Sight, Tableau, or R Shiny.
- Experience managing data pipelines.
- Experience serving as a leader and mentor on a data science team.
Base salary ranges: USA, TX, Dallas – $ – $ USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – $ – $ USD annually. The package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
