The Data Management Manager is responsible for leading the organization's enterprise data management strategy, ensuring the integrity, quality, governance, and accessibility of critical business and operational data. This role partners closely with business leaders, Information Technology, Engineering, Operations, Asset Management, Regulatory Affairs, and Analytics teams to establish data governance frameworks, improve data quality, and enable data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate is an experienced data leader with expertise in enterprise data governance, master data management, metadata management, and data quality, preferably within the utility, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute enterprise data management and governance strategies aligned with business and operational objectives.
- Establish policies, standards, and procedures for data governance, stewardship, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).
- Lead enterprise initiatives to improve the quality, consistency, accuracy, and availability of operational and business data.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Grid Operations, Asset Management, GIS, Customer Operations, Finance, and IT teams to define and maintain trusted data assets.
- Oversee data lifecycle management, including data acquisition, integration, storage, retention, archival, and disposition.
- Ensure data supports critical utility operations, including asset management, work management, outage management, and infrastructure planning.
- Drive continuous improvement of enterprise data quality through profiling, monitoring, cleansing, and root cause analysis.
- Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure appropriate protection of sensitive information and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Support enterprise analytics, business intelligence, AI, and digital transformation initiatives by providing trusted, well-governed data.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, technology vendors, and implementation partners.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data management professionals.
- Establish KPIs and regularly report on data governance maturity, data quality metrics, and program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data management, data governance, database management, or information management.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams and enterprise data initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Master Data Management (MDM)
- Metadata Management
- Data Quality Management
- Data Modeling
- Data Integration and ETL processes
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, cloud data platforms, and enterprise data management tools.
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence platforms.
- Strong project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with in the electric utility, energy, infrastructure, engineering, or asset-intensive industries.
- Familiarity with utility business systems such as GIS, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Work Management Systems (WMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with data visualization tools including Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
- Professional certifications such as CDMP, PMP, Azure Data Engineer, or AWS certifications are preferred.
