Lead Specialist, AI Scientist
Client is staffing hands-on AI Scientists who have trained language models themselves (post-training / fine-tuning), not only used APIs. Lead Specialist, AI Scientist Senior, hands-on model trainer who sets technical direction for model post-training & adaptation.
Must-have skills:
- Post-training / fine-tuning of foundation models — SFT, PEFT ( LoRA / QLoRA ), preference optimization ( RLHF / DPO ), distillation
- Python + deep learning frameworks, incl. distributed / multi-GPU training
- Evaluation & benchmarking rigor — data curation, experiment design, reproducibility
- Public cloud AI services + experience taking models into production
- Technical leadership — sets standards, mentors, communicates cost/risk trade-offs to senior stakeholders
- Plus: AI/ML applied to educational content, assessment & personalized learning
