Openshift Engineer

Location :
Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Term : W2 Role

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Open Shift Engineer to design, deploy, administer, and support enterprise container platforms using Red Hat Open Shift and Kubernetes
. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with containerization, CI/CD, automation, Linux, cloud platforms, and production troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, configure, and administer Red Hat Open Shift Container Platform (OCP) clusters.
  • Manage Open Shift/Kubernetes resources including Pods, Deployments, Services, Routes, Config Maps, Secrets, Operators, and Persistent Volumes.
  • Perform cluster upgrades, patching, scaling, health checks, and capacity management.
  • Troubleshoot application, networking, storage, node, and cluster-level issues.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, or similar tools.
  • Automate infrastructure and deployment activities using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, and scripting
    .
  • Manage container images and registries such as Red Hat Quay, Docker Registry, or AWS ECR
    .
  • Configure Open Shift networking, ingress/routes, security policies, RBAC, and authentication.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, and Open Shift monitoring
    .
  • Work with development and Dev Ops teams to deploy and support microservices-based applications.
  • Support Open Shift integrations with enterprise storage, databases, cloud services, and networking infrastructure.
  • Ensure platform security, availability, scalability, and compliance.
  • Participate in production deployments, incident management, root-cause analysis, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and deployment standards.
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Open Shift / OCP
    .
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and administration.
  • Experience with Docker/Podman and container technologies.
  • Strong Linux/RHEL administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, or Azure Dev Ops.
  • Experience with Helm and Kubernetes/Open Shift manifests.
  • Knowledge of YAML, Bash/Shell scripting
    , and automation.
  • Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform
    .
  • Knowledge of Open Shift networking, security, RBAC, routes, ingress, and storage.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK
    .
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
    .
  • Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Open Shift Administration
    .
  • Experience with Open Shift Operators and Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM).
  • Experience with Service Mesh / Istio
    .
  • Knowledge of Git Ops tools such as Argo CD or Flux
    .
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible Tower/AWX
    , or other infrastructure automation platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions such as Net App, Ceph, or Portworx
    .
  • Experience supporting highly available and production-grade Open Shift environments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Dev Ops, Kubernetes, Open Shift, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Open Shift administration/engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills.
