  • Diagnose, service, program, troubleshoot, and maintain the district's physical security systems to ensure reliable operation and system integrity. Systems include, but are not limited to, access control, video management, video intercoms, smart sensors, alarm and notification systems, and other components within the district's security ecosystem.
  • Maintain and support access control system components including door hardware, electronic locks, card readers, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, sounders, remote release devices, access control panels, controller boards, reader boards, input/output boards, cabling, power supplies, workstations, badging stations, and related equipment.
  • Maintain and support video management system components including cameras, video intercoms, monitors, recorders, video servers,workstations, encoders, network switches, patch panels, POE injectors, smart UPS devices, sensors, cabling, and other related infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot security software platforms including Acre/Open Options DNA Fusion Access Control, Avigilon Unity Access Control, Avigilon Unity Video Management, Windows and Linux server operating systems, Windows and iOS client operating systems, and associated database management software.

Collaborate with staff in the Departments of School Safety, Emergency Management, Police, Information Technology, and Facilities &

Maintenance to support security operations, coordinate projects, resolve technical issues, and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Provide responsive, professional customer service to campus and district staff by communicating effectively, resolving technical issues, and serving as a calm, knowledgeable resource during routine operations and emergency situations.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following established safety procedures, adhering to district standards, and providing emergency after-hours support as required.
  • Conduct system health checks, site surveys, end-user training, and preventative maintenance; develop and maintain technical standards, procedures, system documentation, configuration records, programming documentation, and equipment inventories to ensure operational readiness.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with evolving security technologies, industry best practices, and emerging trends in school safety and physical security.
Qualifications

Associate's Degree from an accredited university required. Computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or related field.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred. Computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or related field.
State of Texas Security License, Electronic Access Control Device Installer required.
Avigilon Unity Access Administrator Certification required.
Avigilon Unity Video Administrator Certification required.
Five or more years with direct access control and video management installation experience required.

The following knowledge and skills are essential qualifications for this position:
  • Extensive knowledge of the Motorola/Avigilon physical security ecosystem, including:
  • Avigilon Unity Video Management and Unity Access Control systems
  • Avigilon Orchestrate and Operator platforms
  • Avigilon cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), Halo smart sensors, and related security technologies
  • Cisco Catalyst network switches and supporting network infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing both headend systems and field devices, including:
  • Schlage and HID card readers
  • Electronic door hardware and locking devices
  • Mercury access control controllers, panels, and circuit boards
  • Axis and Avigilon IP cameras
  • Strong knowledge of access control, video management, IP networking, low-voltage systems, and electronic security principles.
  • Ability to diagnose complex hardware, software, network, and communication issues while maintaining system reliability and minimizing downtime.
  • Excellent verbal, written, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to remain calm and professional while supporting district personnel during routine and emergency situations.
