The Southwest Airlines Meteorology Internship is open to undergraduate students 18 and older who are pursuing a degree in meteorology or atmospheric science To be considered for this role, you should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and at least three semesters of study remaining. Additionally, you should able to read METAR/TAFS. Southwest Airlines Meteorology primarily supports stakeholders in Network Operations Control (NOC) and our stations.
On a day-to-day basis, the Meteorology Team works with NOC and other operational Leaders to help manage weather risk to Southwest’s network in order to better serve customers and fellow operational employees. Meteorology provides significant value in the decision-making process for all weather events that impact Southwest Airlines. As an intern, you will help develop forecasting and communication techniques and apply these techniques in several different environments.
This internship ends with Interns giving the daily briefings to department leaders and other key stakeholders.
Internship projects will be assigned based on business needs and Intern skillset. This internship is offered in Dallas, TX.
