Sea Harbor Insurance is a growing non-standard auto carrier committed to high quality claim outcomes and a strong, collaborative culture. We are seeking an experienced Litigation Claims Adjuster to manage litigated auto claims from assignment through resolution.
Position Summary:The Auto Litigation Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving auto bodily injury claims that are in litigation. This role manages attorney-represented claims, partners closely with defense counsel, and ensures timely and cost-effective claim resolution while delivering exceptional customer service.
What You’ll Do- Manage a pending of litigated auto bodily injury claims from inception through resolution
- Review lawsuits, pleadings, and legal documents to determine exposure and liability
- Partner with defense counsel to develop case strategy, set reserves, and evaluate settlement opportunities
- Conduct thorough investigations including reviewing medical records, accident reports, expert reports, and discovery responses
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials (as needed)
- Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves in accordance with company guidelines
- Negotiate settlements within authority limits
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and litigation management standards
- Maintain timely documentation and file management in claims system
Provide clear and professional communication to insureds, claimants, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
- Minimum two-years of personal lines litigation claims adjusting experience
- Expertise in injury evaluations
- High degree of self-discipline and able to work independently
- Strong negotiation skills, with a desire to negotiate
- Full understanding of, and ability to apply, comparative negligence
- Superior customer service skills, with a desire to help others
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Focused and driven to meet assigned goals and objectives
- Proficiency with computers, including automated claims systems
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Ability to professionally communicate with internal and external Customers
- Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) is a plus
