Description
  • Salary Range: $25-$60 (depending on location, education, and certifications)
  • Hours Requirement: 10 hours minimum of interpreting services required per month (at leadership's discretion)
  • Shifts:

    Available Monday–Saturday, 7am–7pm MT. Initially asked to work at least one shift on Monday, Friday, or Saturday.
  • Premium shifts offered to boost hourly wage

  • Opportunity for annual certification, testing and membership/licensure reimbursement up to 100% based on average hours worked

    Transfer and visiting interpreter opportunities to any of the centers across the US
  • Ability to pass required skills assessment
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Interpreter certification as required by local regulations
  • 3 years of experience working as an interpreter (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly regulated customer service environment
  • Dexterity to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and tools
Responsibilities
  • Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English for video relay service
  • Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
  • Follow Sorenson Communications standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Adhere to Sorenson Communications attendance policy
  • Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet industry demands
  • Quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
  • Work effectively in a team environment; provide and receive support from colleagues
  • Accept oversight that may include call monitoring, mentoring, and evaluations
  • Continuously enhance interpreting skills through continued education training
  • Willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an on-going basis
Qualifications
  • Diploma or better in high school or related field
  • Experience:

    3 years interpreting (previous VRS experience preferred)
  • Interpreter certification required by local regulations
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills
