Newcomer and Multilingual Services Specialist
Coordinate and provide multilingual services that support the academic success of Emergent Bilingual (EB) students, including newcomers, through curriculum translation, language-access services, instructional support, newcomer program coordination, and support for campus LPAC processes. Serve as a district resource in multilingual education, language acquisition, culturally responsive instructional practices, and multilingual program implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of multilingual language acquisition and effective instructional supports for emergent bilingual students.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with campus and district staff, students, and families.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Languages, Linguistics, Translation Studies, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred.
- Bilingual and/or ESL certification preferred.
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of bilingual education, second language acquisition, and culturally responsive instructional practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), ELPS, and state assessment requirements.
- Experience using instructional technology and digital translation tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and educational technology platforms.
