Responsibilities
  • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
  • Keep client files properly organized and up to date
  • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
  • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
  • Represent clients in family law matters, including prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, divorce (contested and uncontested), suits affecting the parent-child relationship, child custody, visitation, child support, and property division, including real estate issues related to family law cases
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements
  • Manage cases from intake through resolution, including mediation and trial
  • Appear in court for hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
  • Maintain organized case files and comply with all deadlines
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
  • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
  • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
  • Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
  • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of family law experience required
  • Strong knowledge of the Texas Family Code and civil procedure
  • Proven record of success both in and out of court
  • Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively with a team
  • Strong client-centered approach and emotional intelligence
Compensation

$102,000 per year
