Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Director of Supply Chain is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and actively managing all supply chain functions across the business. This role is designed for a roll-up-your-sleeves operator who thrives in a fast-growing aerospace and defense environment and wants to build, implement, operate, and scale supply chain systems over the long term.
The company is on an aggressive growth trajectory, with plans to double the business over the next five years. This role will not only design and implement improvements, but will own those processes, continuously refine them, and grow with the organization as it scales.
Key Responsibilities- Own end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, sourcing, supplier management, inventory, logistics, planning, and demand forecasting
- Actively lead day-to-day supply chain execution while also driving long-term strategy
- Design, implement, and personally operate scalable supply chain processes that support rapid growth
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners across the aerospace and defense ecosystem
- Leverage existing industry relationships to improve pricing, lead times, availability, and supplier performance
- Ensure full compliance with aerospace and defense regulations, including FAA, AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable customer and regulatory requirements
- Partner closely with engineering, quality, operations, finance, and program management to align supply chain execution with business objectives
- Develop and manage KPIs related to cost, delivery, quality, supplier performance, and inventory turns
- Lead risk management efforts related to supply continuity, obsolescence, and regulatory exposure
- Support new program launches, MRO operations, and defense-related contracts with robust supply chain planning
- Mentor and develop supply chain team members while building scalable organizational capability
- Supply chain processes that scale smoothly as the business doubles in size
- Improved supplier performance, cost control, and on-time delivery
- Strong compliance posture with zero surprises in audits or customer reviews
- A supply chain function that is viewed as a strategic enabler, not just a support function
- A leader who grows alongside the business and becomes a long-term pillar of the leadership team
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience within aerospace and/or defense
- Proven experience working in regulated environments with a strong understanding of aerospace and defense compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to both implement change and operate within it — not a consultant mindset
- Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing, MRO, or defense programs
- Strong supplier negotiation and relationship-management skills
- Track record of scaling supply chain operations in a growing organization
- Existing relationships within the aerospace and defense supplier base
- Experience supporting both commercial and defense customers
- Background in precision manufacturing, component repair, or aviation services
- Experience navigating supply chain challenges related to growth, lead-time constraints, and regulatory complexity
- Hands-on, pragmatic leader who leads by example
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and growth environments
- Long-term mindset with a desire to build and grow with the business
- Strong communicator who can influence across all levels of the organization
