About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Freight Broker to join our logistics team and manage freight placement, carrier relationships, and end‑to‑end shipment execution for a variety of commodity and non‑commodity trades. The successful candidate will source and negotiate with carriers, coordinate with internal trading and operations teams, and ensure shipments move on time, at competitive rates, and in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

This role is ideal for a commercial, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys building strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Work On
  • Manage end‑to‑end freight brokerage activities including rate negotiation, tendering, confirmation, and load follow‑up for FTL, LTL, intermodal, and drayage services.
  • Develop and maintain carrier networks, ensuring compliance with insurance, safety ratings, and contractual requirements.
  • Work closely with traders, export/import operations, and customers to plan and execute shipments, resolve issues, and provide status updates.
  • Prepare and validate shipment documentation and electronic data interchange (EDI) entries; ensure timely submission of bills of lading and proof of delivery.
  • Monitor carrier performance and shipment KPIs; investigate and resolve claims, delays, or quality concerns.
  • Maintain accurate rate sheets, routing guides, and transactional records in internal systems and spreadsheets.
  • Conduct freight market research and rate benchmarking to support commercial decision making and cost optimization.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, escalating operational risks and proposing mitigation actions.
Experience & Profile
  • 3+ years freight brokerage, 3PL, or carrier operations experience; commodity or agricultural logistics experience preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple shipments and deadlines concurrently.
  • Proficient with Excel and comfortable learning and using TMS/ERP systems.
  • Team player with a customer service mindset and professional approach to confidential or sensitive information.
