About the job

Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors for the company. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.

• May manage new and existing supplier relationships with a supply base that includes both domestic and international suppliers.
• Review, analyze and decide correct quantities of product to purchases by running both MRP and Demand Planning modules; also requires ensuring quantities to buy align with strategic direction.
• Investigates and solves problems resulting from quality and specification issues and from inbound/outbound shipping damages.
• May initiate RFPs and negotiates contracts tied to pricing and terms and conditions.
• Ensure on time delivery of needed products/services including expediting purchase orders when needed.
• Investigate and resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies with suppliers, coordinating with Receiving and Accounting teams.
• Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers and maintaining ETA’s in system.
• May manage communication of quarterly supplier scorecards tied to performance measurements.
• Consults suppliers and trade catalogs to obtain prices and availability.
• Coordinates internal cross-functional activities to ensure product availability aligns with customer needs
• Pulls, processes and/or reviews daily reports as necessary.
• Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected for decision making, working with very minimal supervision.
• Reliable attendance is a must.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Customer Service
  - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Intermediate Language Skills
  - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Intermediate Math Skills
  - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• High Reasoning Ability
  - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills - (Word, Excel, Order processing and inventory systems)
• Clerical
  - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 3 years related experience;
• or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
