Job Description

Crowe's Performance Improvement practice helps clients significantly improve profitability by:

  • solving supply chain, procurement / sourcing, supplier management / development, and operational challenges;
  • developing an executable improvement plan and aligning stakeholders;
  • quantifying the financial value associated with implementing the improvements; and
  • partnering with clients to drive value capture (delivering bottom-line results, not just presentations).

We need more Supply Chain Consulting Managers to manage strategic sourcing engagements, including leading development of global supply strategies, building category strategies, delivering competitive sourcing initiatives, owning more complex value creation work streams, and driving procurement transformations, logistics, and operational excellence with clients.

Our delivery model relies on capable managers to oversee daily work, maintain productive client relationships, and lead their own work streams. Managers solve tough sourcing, logistics, or operational challenges while supporting other Crowe teammates. Our teams work on site with clients, requiring travel. This position requires travel approximately 95% of the time and weekly travel should not be an issue.

Job duties

Your primary focus would be leading our strategic sourcing engagements, including:

  • Managing supply chain assessments, including:
  • Conducting executive and front-line interviews and completing job observations
  • Developing a spend cube and performance analytics to shape category events and enable impact tracking (leveraging Power BI)
  • Leading organizational sourcing and procurement maturity assessments to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Building out detailed category sourcing strategies to improve commercial terms and alignment with suppliers
  • Facilitating ideation workshops independently to gain stakeholder alignment
  • Building assessment reports and presenting insights and strategies to executive leaders
  • Post-assessment, managing implementation of recommendations, including:
    • Managing engagement and client relationships
    • Leading execution of category strategies through final negotiations and supplier agreement implementation
    • Supporting client optimization of sourcing and procurement structures, policies, processes, and management practices
    • Owning ad hoc value creation work streams when appropriate

Managers may also be assigned to logistics or operational consulting engagements when appropriate, involving:

  • Managing logistics optimization or operational improvement engagements
  • Collaborating with or leading our extended team and clients to assess, design, and implement broader operational and supply chain transformation projects
  • Leading and managing execution of complex consulting value work streams, including analytical, financial, process, and modeling aspects
Qualifications

Non-negotiable qualifications:

  • Travel 95% of the time – Sunday through Thursday, more than 45 weeks per year (no flexibility)
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or more than ten years of professional field experience
  • More than seven years of strategic sourcing experience — creating and executing category strategies independently, in industry or as a consultant
  • More than three years of experience managing projects and people

Life skills vital for success in our practice:

  • Personable and able to pass the airplane test; we work to lead and influence stakeholders in every aspect of client engagements
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive results independently
  • Ability and interest in learning new skills quickly and often
  • Ability to conduct analytics that generate insights, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and…
