Are you an experienced supply chain leader with a strong manufacturing background? Join a leading manufacturer of vehicle chassis systems serving the commercial vehicle industry and play a key role in driving purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance excellence.
About the Role:Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Manager will lead purchasing, materials planning, inventory management, and supplier performance activities. This position oversees a team of 5 direct reports and is critical to ensuring smooth production operations and supply chain success.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead purchasing activities for direct materials, indirect materials, and MRO procurement.
- Manage supplier relationships, pricing, delivery performance, quality, lead times, and contract negotiations.
- Drive supplier performance improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Utilize MRP II systems for forecasting, material planning, and inventory management.
- Ensure material availability supports production schedules and customer requirements.
- Oversee inventory control, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy programs.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and KANBAN replenishment systems.
- Monitor purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance KPIs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing and materials professionals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Finance, and Customer Service teams.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, or Supply Chain
- Strong expertise in MRP II systems and manufacturing planning
- Supplier negotiation and supplier performance management experience
- Inventory management, forecasting, and material planning experience
- APICS CPIM Certification
- Experience in commercial vehicles, automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing
- Experience with vehicle chassis systems, suspension systems, axle systems, or structural components
- Casting and forging manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and KANBAN environments
