The Logistics Director is a senior executive leader responsible for developing, directing, and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations of the organization across all national service areas. This role drives strategic planning, third-party logistics (3PL/4PL) vendor partnerships, operational efficiency, and financial performance — ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of products and services to internal and external customers, including commissary and institutional partners.
The Logistics Director serves as a critical bridge between executive leadership and frontline operations teams, leveraging data-driven decision-making, industry-leading technology platforms (WMS, TMS, and ERP systems), and strategic partnerships with national logistics providers such as C.H. Robinson to maintain competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving wholesale and distribution landscape.
Job Responsibilities- Lead and develop logistics teams across all regional locations
- Build and execute multi-year supply chain strategies
- Manage 3PL/4PL partnerships and carrier relationships
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations
- Drive KPI performance: OTD, fill rates, order accuracy
- Ensure FDA, DOT, and OSHA compliance
- Own and manage the full logistics department budget
- Integrate TMS, WMS, and AI-driven forecasting tools
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, procurement, and sales
- Present performance reports and strategy to executive leadership
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive logistics, supply chain, or distribution management experience — with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
- Demonstrated experience managing third-party logistics (3PL/4PL) partnerships and national carrier networks, including vendors such as C.H. Robinson, XPO Logistics, Ryder, or equivalent providers.
- Proven track record managing multi-site logistics operations in wholesale, food service, institutional supply, or commissary environments.
- Experience with centralized purchasing processes, freight forwarding, maritime operations, and warehouse-to-warehouse transfer programs.
- Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and logistics analytics/reporting tools.
- Working knowledge of AI-driven demand forecasting, automated freight lifecycle tools, and supply chain visibility platforms.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, FDA food safety compliance, trade compliance standards (CBP/FMC requirements), and OSHA safety regulations.
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
- Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) — SOLE International Society of Logistics
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to executive leadership, vendor partners, and regulatory bodies with credibility and clarity.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities; ability to interpret complex logistics data and translate insights into actionable strategy.
- High emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, and develop diverse, multi-site teams in fast-paced operational environments.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple strategic priorities simultaneously without loss of focus.
- AI and machine learning literacy increasingly valued
