About the Role

The Crew Scheduler is at the center of JSXs day-to-day flight operation, ensuring every flight has the qualified Crew members needed to operate safely and in compliance with applicable requirements.

Youll manage daily, short-term, and long-term scheduling changes for Pilots and Flight Attendants while continuously monitoring crew legality and responding to changing operational conditions. When weather, maintenance delays, illness, or other disruptions affect the schedule, youll quickly evaluate options, reassign Crew members, activate reserves, and coordinate necessary travel arrangements to keep the operation moving.

This role is ideal for someone who stays organized under pressure, communicates clearly, and enjoys solving fast-moving operational puzzles where priorities can change by the minute.

A Day in the Life

In this role, youll:

  • Assign Pilots and Flight Attendants to flights while ensuring compliance with applicable FAR Part 135 duty and rest limitations.
  • Ensure all scheduled flights are appropriately crewed and identify potential coverage issues before they impact the operation.
  • Monitor crew legality in real time and take action to maintain compliance as schedules change.
  • Respond to operational disruptions, including severe weather, mechanical delays, and Crew member illness, by adjusting assignments and activating reserve personnel.
  • Assign reserve periods and deploy reserve Crew members based on operational needs.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Pilots and Flight Attendants regarding schedule questions, trip trades, assignments, and updates.
  • Coordinate last-minute deadhead flights, hotel accommodations, and ground transportation for displaced or repositioning Crew members.
  • Use Nav Blue N-OC and related scheduling tools to manage daily, short-term, and long-term schedule changes.
  • Work closely with Crew Planning and provide daily support as operational needs evolve.
  • Evaluate scheduling options and adjust flying when appropriate to help minimize aircraft swaps and operational disruption.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling information and communicate changes quickly and clearly to affected Crew members and stakeholders.
  • Balance multiple time-sensitive priorities while maintaining accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational focus.
Why Youll Love This Role
  • Be at the Center of the Operation: Your decisions directly support the Crew members and flights that keep JSX moving every day.
  • Solve Problems in Real Time: No two shifts are exactly alike. Youll continuously evaluate changing conditions and find solutions when the original plan changes.
  • Make an Immediate Impact: A smart scheduling decision can protect a flight, reduce disruption, and help get Crew members and aircraft where they need to be.
  • Build Airline Operations Expertise: Develop deeper knowledge of crew legality, FAR requirements, reserve utilization, operational recovery, and airline scheduling.
  • Work as One Team: Partner closely with Pilots, Flight Attendants, Crew Planning, and operational teams across JSX.
What Makes a Successful Crew Scheduler?
  • Calm Under Pressure: You can work through disruptions and competing priorities without losing focus or accuracy.
  • Detail-Oriented: You understand that small scheduling details can have significant operational and regulatory consequences.
  • Decisive: You can quickly evaluate available options and execute a solution when circumstances change.
  • Organized: You can manage multiple Crew members, flights, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Communicative: You provide clear, timely updates and work effectively with Crew members and operational partners.
  • Adaptable: Youre comfortable when the plan changes and can quickly shift priorities as the operation evolves.
