Director of Accounting

Synergy Search is partnering with a private equity-backed company in Dallas to hire a hands-on Director of Accounting. This role is ideal for a senior accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys building scalable processes, strengthening controls, and partnering closely with executive leadership. You will own the accounting function, lead the close and reporting process, and play a critical role in supporting PE-driven initiatives and continued organizational growth.

• Lead and oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, flux analysis, and timely, accurate internal and external reporting.
• Design, implement, and strengthen internal controls, policies, and standardized accounting processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, building structure and scalability as the company grows.
• Serve as a key business partner to FP&A, operations, and executive leadership, providing financial insight and guidance.
• Manage external audit, tax, and compliance processes, acting as the primary point of contact with advisors.
• Support acquisitions, integrations, and other private equity-sponsored initiatives.
• Drive system improvements, automation, and process optimization initiatives.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
• Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to build and scale accounting functions in evolving organizations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset.
