Director of Talent Development at Methodist Health System
Job PurposeThe Methodist Health System (MHS) Talent Development (TD) Team collaborates with leaders and their teams to drive our organization’s vision and ensure the successful achievement of MHS business goals and objectives. The TD Team is seeking an experienced Talent Development Director to strengthen alignment between identified business priorities and organizational vision and strategy, and to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization.
Responsibilities- Identify organizational performance and learning needs and develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate solutions to meet those needs, focusing on development at all levels, customer, employee, and physician experience, and performance improvement.
- Lead a team of Talent Development professionals, providing clear direction, task clarity, and balanced performance feedback, cultivating an engaging work environment.
- Assess organizational, team, and individual development needs to surface performance gaps, develop cost‑effective solutions, monitor change, and evaluate results.
- Provide internal consulting to organization leaders to drive successful business results and employee effectiveness, including coaching and development planning for individual leaders.
- Analyze and evaluate results regarding the value or impact of performance‑enhancing or development‑focused solutions, leveraging findings to increase workforce effectiveness.
- Develop project structure, approach, and plans for organization effectiveness and leadership development interventions, engaging stakeholders.
- Oversee and contribute to the design and implementation of a system‑wide staff and leadership development strategy, curriculum design, delivery plan, and supporting processes.
- Maintain and ensure effective administration of Methodist’s learning management and virtual learning platforms.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support diversity and inclusion strategies, including oversight of MHS D&I governance and related programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline (Organization Development, Organizational Management, Business Administration, HRD, I/O Psychology, HR, or related field).
- Certification and/or experience administering commonly used organizational development and leadership development tools (e.g., multi‑rater feedback, assessments, team‑building tools, learning curricula).
- Preferred: CPLP or PHR certification.
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in Talent Development, L&D, OD, HR, or Talent Management.
- Strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience in developing, adapting, and applying OD and organizational effectiveness models, practices, tools, and trends.
- Experience influencing and consulting with leaders at all levels, with competency in large‑group facilitation, session planning, coaching, and delivery of leadership and team development sessions.
- A demonstrated ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, establish root causes, and implement optimal solutions.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively across boundaries and provide exceptional internal and external customer service.
- Capability to prioritize, manage, and execute simultaneous tasks, projects, and programs.
- Understanding of and application of change‑management models and methods.
- Experience in the health‑care context is preferred.
- Experience with implementation and/or improvement of talent‑management programs across the continuum (on‑boarding, performance management, leadership development, succession planning) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of continuous process improvement methodologies and tools is preferred.
