LHH is seeking a Director of Accounting on behalf of a rapidly expanding, multi-location healthcare organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting leader with deep experience in healthcare financial operations, and GAAP reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, proven success building scalable processes, and the leadership skills to guide a growing accounting team while partnering cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities- Oversee preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure compliance with private equity reporting requirements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual packages
- Manage external audit processes, including coordination with auditors and preparation of schedules
- Oversee annual tax-related activities in partnership with third-party providers
- Lead daily accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Develop, refine, and enforce accounting policies and procedures
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Establish and monitor strong internal controls to protect company assets
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial processes
- Drive best practices to support ongoing organizational growth
- Assist with due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions
- Partner with practice-level accounting teams to implement Net Suite and train on accrual accounting
- Conduct monthly reviews with acquired or transitioning locations
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Recruit and retain strong talent aligned with the organization’s financial goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
CPA required - 6–8 years of progressive accounting leadership experience
- Prior experience in a private equity–backed organization highly preferred
- Healthcare industry experience required, especially in multi-location provider settings and cash-to-accrual revenue recognition
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as Net Suite; implementation experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong leadership and team development abilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
