Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of multiple construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role provides leadership to project teams, including Project Managers and Superintendents, and may also directly manage select complex or high-profile projects. The SPM sets clear expectations, establishes achievable goals, allocates resources effectively, and mentors team members to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Hillwood’s quality standards.
The Senior Project Manager plays a key role in driving best practices, maintaining strong client relationships, and serving as a leader and problem-solver across projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and coach Project Managers and project teams to drive accountability, performance, and professional development.
- Establish clear project goals, roles, and responsibilities for all team members.
- Identify staffing needs and ensure appropriate allocation of internal resources across multiple projects.
- Promote and reinforce Hillwood best practices, processes, and standards across all assigned projects.
- Oversee multiple construction projects from concept through final closeout, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and client expectations.
- Collaborate closely with Superintendents to develop, maintain, and distribute detailed project schedules.
- Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect work quality, schedule adherence, and overall project performance.
- Maintain overall financial accountability for assigned projects, including budgets, cost forecasting, change management, and financial reporting.
- Review and approve cost reports, pay applications, and change orders.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks while maximizing cost efficiency and project value.
- Maintain ultimate responsibility for jobsite safety, working in close partnership with the Superintendent.
- Ensure compliance with Hillwood safety programs, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across project teams and trade partners.
- Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure work meets Hillwood and client standards.
- Oversee project document control, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, logs, and current plan sets.
- Ensure timely distribution of documents and accurate recordkeeping throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support resolution of contractual issues and claims in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners and key stakeholders throughout the project.
- Provide consistent, professional communication, including status updates, schedule milestones, and financial reporting.
- Proactively manage client expectations and address concerns to ensure a high level of client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Lead the project closeout process, ensuring timely and thorough completion of all closeout requirements.
- Work with the Superintendent to manage punch lists and final inspections.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of operations & maintenance manuals, warranties, and final project documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executive-level internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive construction project management experience.
- Tilt-wall construction with design-build experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods while working in an office or active construction site environment.
- Ability to walk job sites and navigate uneven terrain as required.
