Under minimal direction, provides project management expertise in management of one or more assigned projects. The Sr. Project Manager provides management expertise for research and academic facility initiatives across UT Southwestern. Reporting to the Director of Space Planning & Facilities – Academic Affairs, this role oversees assigned projects from planning through completion, ensuring adherence to approved budgets, schedules, and institutional standards.
The position serves as a key liaison between Academic Affairs and departmental stakeholders, translating academic and research needs into executable project plans. Success in this role requires strong coordination, problem‑solving, and communication skills to support strategic space planning efforts, guide departments through approved processes, and deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes aligned with the Provost and Dean’s priorities.

Bachelor's Degree in related field
Related operational experience may substitute for Master's degree. - Experience

- Oversees approved Research and Academics projects to ensure they stay within budget and on schedule.
- Acts as a liaison to Business Affairs, Health System Affairs, and Academic Affairs organizations and connects with the client to ensure their goals and needs are met.
- Attends operational meetings to ensure that all key players/stakeholders are involved with the decision making process to achieve goals/objectives.
- Communicates to executive leadership project time lines, budgets, changes, and/or requests additional funding requirements when needed.
- Expeditiously resolves issues on site and makes required decisions to keep projects on schedule or meeting budgets.
- Develops and continually manages project expectations with the key players/ stakeholders by delegating responsibilities and identifying and resolving issues.
- Partners with departments within Academic Affairs to gather required information/documentation, understand the process and sees projects through to completion
- Works with the Provost/Dean's office on strategic space planning and/or operational needs for Research and Academics.
- Guides department Chairs and Administrators with developing project scope of work and submittals using approved UT Southwestern procedures.
- Provides project status, information, reports to senior leadership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
